“No matter how great the talents or efforts, some things just take time.

You can’t produce a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant.”

WARREN BUFFETT

Investment: There is a right way to invest.
That is, to be an investor, not a speculator.

Investors ignore market noise and predictions, they diversify to mitigate “risks” to a personally acceptable level. Control costs and understand that investing is about patience and long run outcomes. You are likely to know what your investment return will be and you won’t attempt to time markets or pick shares, funds, sectors, markets or countries.

Our approach to investment strategy is elegant and simple. It is simple for you as a client or investor to understand. It also makes heavy use of the recent behavioural financial research and allows you to much more readily achieve your investment goals. It is a unique strategy which is always tailored for you, designed to meet your personal needs and circumstances.

You may simply suggest that all you want from your investments is to “Make Money.” There are however at least five requirements that fit below the “Make Money” instruction. What do you require?

  • Liquidity, the ability to quickly access your funds?
  • Income, your requirements now or in the future and at what level?
  • Capital reservation, is it essential to preserve your capital, or run it down with age?
  • Growth. Do you want to see your investments grow for the family?
  • Fun. Do you want to have some fun with your investment and take some gambles or opportunistic, social or family based investments?

Our investment strategy for you starts with a detailed examination of your requirements, particularly your cashflow requirements. From this base we then move to building a diversified portfolio of investments that match your inclinations and timeframes. To determine the appropriate holdings in your portfolio to match your requirements, we make heavy use of research, industry networks and our past experience.

Financial Planning: The majority of Kiwis lack a good plan of action to address their financial future.

A good plan is essential. Unfortunately financial plans have often been created by New Zealand financial institutions as selling tools or as a response to regulatory requirements. The result has been an avalanche of very poor quality and often meaningless plans on the NZ public which has partly brought the process into disrepute. Plans we create are highly personalised and are designed to address our clients’ key issues and options. Unless you as the client are fully engaged in that process the plan will have little validity. True peace of mind for most clients requires that their financial numbers and options are properly calculated and examined.

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.”

KiwiSaver: The majority of Kiwis lack a good plan of action to address their financial future.

KiwiSaver is a voluntary, work-based savings initiative to help you with your long-term saving for retirement. It’s designed to be hassle-free so it’s easy to maintain a regular savings pattern. There are a range of membership benefits to encourage you to get saving. They include regular contributions from your employer and an annual member tax credit paid by the Government. Some people may also be eligible for help with the deposit on their first home.

KiwiSaver schemes are managed by private sector companies called KiwiSaver providers. We will help you to choose which KiwiSaver provider to invest your money with. KiwiSaver is not guaranteed by the Government, which means you make your investment choices in a KiwiSaver scheme at your own risk – hence the need for a financial adviser.
